N2 Type Approval

Category N2 covers goods vehicles with a maximum mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes but not exceeding 12 tonnes — a category that includes larger box-body conversions, specialist chassis-cab builds, and medium-weight multi-stage vehicles.

N2 projects often involve more complex approval routes than N1, particularly where a build changes axle loading, braking system performance, or overall vehicle dimensions from the base vehicle manufacturer's original approval.
